Mr. Rufus Bradshaw

Jacksonville, Florida Mr. Rufus Bradshaw, the youngest of five children, was born on January 15, 1958, in Miami, FL, to Lee Bradshaw Sr. and Rosa Lee Lester Bradshaw. Rufus was educated in the Miami-Dade School System and graduated from South Dade High School in 1976. Rufus was an amazing person with a heart bigger than himself, always willing to give whatever he had to help others. He was truly a jack of all trades—skilled in laying concrete, repairing water and sewer pipes, and operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, jackhammers, and concrete cutters. As a young adult, he loved to sing and was a member of a gospel group for several years. Rufus had a wonderful sense of humor and could bring laughter to any situation. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing, and he often spoke about the excitement of feeling a fish “hit the line.” A dedicated and hardworking man, Rufus paid close attention to detail in everything he did. He began his career as a van driver for the elderly with the City of Homestead. Through his strong determination and commitment, he worked his way up to become Superintendent of Solid Waste, in which he dedicated 18 years of service. He was often referred to as "Bradshaw" by his co-workers. He later became a Bus Operator for Miami-Dade Transit, where he retired after 19 years of service. In 1994, he married Deidre, and a bonus daughter, Porschia, was added to the union. Throughout his life, Rufus upheld the Christian faith instilled by family tradition. He was known for his big smile and contagious laugh, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Rufus answered the Master’s call to eternal life on March 21, 2026. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Shakavian "Koot" Bradshaw; sisters, Rosemary "Gal" Bradshaw, Sharella Bradshaw; a brother, Bobby Bradshaw; aunts, Alice Lester, Elnora Hill, Lorene Lester; uncles, Roger Lester, Rufus Lester Jr., Willie B. Darling, Loyate Lester, Leroy Lester, Herman Lester. He leaves to cherish precious memories , his wife , Deidre Bradshaw, three children: Porschia Crawford of Lubbock, TX, Bria "Boonchie" Bradshaw; two brothers, Lee Edward Bradshaw (Crystal) of Miami, FL, and David Bradshaw (Pamela) of Statesboro, GA, grandchildren, Ivana Dean, Ivan Bradshaw, Dalia Dean, Issac Bradshaw, Ky'air Harvey, and Ky'lea Harvey, a host of other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 at Hill’s Mortuary, Inc., from 5 PM to 6 PM. The funeral service for Mr. Rufus Bradshaw, will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Ben Samuel Hill Memorial Chapel of Hill’s Mortuary, Inc. The burial will follow in the Lee Cemetery. Final rites have been entrusted to Hill's Mortuary, Inc.
