Mrs. Mildred Wilkerson

Statesboro. Georgia Mildred Wilkerson, cherished mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born on November 15, 1930, in Statesboro, Georgia, to the late Susie Mae and Bruce Odom. Mildred built a life defined by generosity, humor, unwavering faith, and a steadfast devotion to the people she loved. She served as the mother of Thomas Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith and service touched countless lives. She leaves to cherish her memory three sisters: Juanita Odom of Boston, Massachusetts; Almarita Hendley of South Carolina; and Ruby Odom of Statesboro, Georgia. She is also survived by her loving children: Floyd Odom of Boston, Massachusetts; Milton LeRoy Odom, Patricia Ann Odom-Andrews, Betty Odom-Wilkes, and Darnell Wilkerson, all of Statesboro, Georgia; and Faye Wilkerson-Richards of San Francisco, California. Mildred's legacy continues through her grandchildren: Antwania McCrary, Ebrima Omar Jatta, Jr., Eneas Robins, Derek Lamar Odom, Sharon King, and Christopher Wilkes, as well as several great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever carry her spirit forward. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Susie Mae Odom; her brothers, Bobby Odom and Bruce Odom, Jr.; her sister, Willie Mae Lee; and her son, Tony Lamar Odom. Mildred was honored and recognized for 19 years of faithful and dedicated service with the Physical Plant Division at Georgia Southern University, where she later retired. She was also a proud member of the Auxiliary Club of Ten members and was one of the last two remaining members of this cherished organization. Mildred poured her heart into her community, church, and family. Whether sharing a home-cooked meal, offering words of encouragement, or simply lending a listening ear, she believed that small acts of kindness could brighten a day—and sometimes change a life. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered for the laughter that filled every room, her unfailing encouragement, her legendary fruitcakes, pecan pies, and peach cobbler, and the patience and wisdom she generously shared. To know Mildred was to be welcomed, heard, and loved without condition. One of Mildred's final wishes was to set sail on a cruise with her family. Though that journey was not realized on earth, her loved ones find comfort in believing that God had other plans—to welcome her home and reunite her with those family members who had gone on before her. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Eagle Health & Rehabilitation Facility, her devoted sister Ruby Odom, her nephew Ervin Lee, and the Affinis Hospice team for their compassionate care, support, and kindness during her final days. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Thomas Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Mary Frances Ocom-Lee, Officiating and the Rev. Arthur Kelly, Sr., Eulogist. Final rites have been entrusted to Hill's Mortuary, Inc.
