Mr. Lamar 'Sonny" Webb

Statesboro, Georgia Mr. Lamar “Sonny” Webb, age 70, departed this life Friday, October 3, 2025, at the St. Joseph’s Hospital of Savannah Georgia. He was the son of the late Lemar and Willie Mae Webb in Statesboro, Georgia. Sonny began his education in the Bulloch County School System until he moved to Jersey City in 1969, where he was educated in the Jersey City Public School System. Sonny possessed a great work ethic; his first job was with Summer Graves. From there he worked several jobs in the city until he fell in love with painting. Painting was really where Sonny shined; he found his calling working with his hands and putting a smile on the faces of his family from his craft. He also loved to cook and share his food with his family. Sonny had great faith in the Lord, his passion for the Lord shown through his ministry daily. He would pick people up to take them to the hospital or grocery store. The fire in his belly was so great to help those who were less fortunate. He was always giving, even when he did not have enough for himself. Sonny loved people and people loved him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by, brother Donald, aunts; Sarah Murphy, Thelma Davis, Maragaret Webb- Nixon, Martha D. Herring, Ellen B. Jones, Mercille Jenkins and uncles; Robert Webb, Richard Webb, Joseph A. Webb, Lee Watt Brack, Charlie Brack and Daniel Brack. He leaves to cherish his memory three beautiful daughters: Tamika, Takisha, and Aisha Johnson; one sister, Wilma Webb-Jenkins (James), four brothers Kenneth, Curtis (Andria), Allen (Patricia), and Lawrence, six grandchildren: Latoya Webb, Xavier McRae, Greg Cobbs Jr, Derrick Webb, Essence Webb, Shada Johnson, and Deshawn Johnson; and his great-grandchildren: Ayden Webb, Jayden Webb, Wynter Webb, Ricardo Webb, and Darryl Falls. Also cherishing Lamar’s memory are Reginald Webb of Columbus, Ohio; Walter Webb (Claretha) of Jersey City; Theresa Ferguson of Jersey City; Mary Webb-Miller of Jersey City; Lavern Webb-Washington; James (Lillian) Brack of Statesboro, Ga; Nathaniel Brack of Jacksonville, Fl and William Henry Shaw Jones of Statesboro, Ga; a special god son, Taylor Terrell Simmons, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A viewing for Mr. Webb will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 4 P.M. to & P.M. at Hill’s Mortuary, Inc. Mr. Webb will lie in state on the day of service, from 2 P.M. until the funeral hour. There will be no viewing after the eulogy. The funeral service for Mr. Lamar “Sonny” Webb, will be held 3 P.M., Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Whitesville Full Gospel Worship Center with the Bishop Larry Jones, officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastside Cemetery. Final rites have been entrusted to Hill’s Mortuary, Inc. .
