Mrs. Geraldine Johnson Weaver Taylor

Known as Geraldine Johnson Weaver Taylor, born as Gerlene Johnson, and affectionately called “Gangsta Granny” by her grandchildren. She transitioned her spiritual journey on October 21, 2021 to join her granddaughter Aina Smith, brother Ulysses Johnson, and ex-husband,Thomas J. Weaver. Geraldine was born in Garfield, Georgia on June 12, 1949, to Roosevelt Johnson and Tecola Rock Johnson. Geraldine was the mother to Gwendlyon “Joyce” Weaver, Rachel Raney Weaver-Hall, and Sherry Ann Weaver. She raised her children with hardcore love and devotion in Statesboro and Brunswick, Georgia with her first husband, the late Thomas J.Weaver, and then in Brunswick, Georgia with her second husband, Tommy James Taylor. Geraldine worked in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Geraldine was known for her quality care, hard-work, and dedication to her patients. Her hobbies included spending quality time with her family, playing cards, and dragstrip and motorcycle racing. She was most proud of attending Riley Trainer Institute and of completing the Nursing Assistant Program in 1989. She graduated from Glynn Academy High School in 1997, receiving her diploma. She also attended Coastal Georgia Community College for Nursing. She is survived by: her three daughters, Gwendolyn “Joyce”Weaver, Rachel “Raney” Weaver-Hall, and Sherry Ann Weaver, all of Brunswick, Georgia; her grandchildren, Jacqueline Denise Weaver, Krystyl Marie Jones, Jahlica Antoinette Donley, Charles Thomas Donley, Solomon Moses Jones, Gerell De Angelo Hall, Arthur Bernard Walthour, Jr. (Kailey), Alfo Labi Smith, Makayla Kateer Hall, and Symone Shanice Hall, Bunmi Smith; greatgrandchildren, Titilola Brown, Jeniyah Weaver, Demontra Atkinson, Rionna Weaver, Lavonte Lockett, Khamari Weaver, Jay’dyn Harris, Kamari Hall, Taylor Frasier, Ineece Jones, SariahJones, Aaliyah Donley, Ameila Walthour, and Arthur Walthour III. Aside from the children she doted on, Geraldine is survived by: Tommy James Taylor; her brother, Williams Roosevelt Johnson (Debbie Ann) of Tallapoosa, Georgia; a sister, Lucinda Johnson Walker; a very special cousin, Shirley Ann Prescott, all of Statesboro, Georgia; her aunt, Martha Fleming; a host of nieces nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and a very special goddaughter, Keisha Early of Savannah, Georgia. The funeral services for Mrs. Taylor, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Old Mt. Pisgah "Fishtrap" Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Rufus Love, Pastor and the Rev.
