Statesboro, GA Mother Carrie Jackson, age 72, passed into eternal rest on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center. The Bulloch County native was the daughter of the late Mr. Clifford Smart and Mrs. Mae Bell Whitfield Murray. She was educated in the public school system of Bulloch County and was a graduate of the William James High School class of 1957. Mrs. Jackson was retired from the Bulloch County Board of Education as a cook for the Julia P. Bryant Elementary School. Mother Jackson was a faithful and dedicated member of Elm Street Church of God where she served as the former church secretary, a member of the adult choir and overseer of the kitchen ministry. Mother Jackson leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Mr. Ernest Jackson of Statesboro, GA; daughters, Cheryl (Joseph) Stephens of Statesboro, GA; Betty (Collins) Lyons of Columbia, SC; Carolyn (Bob) Clark of Lithonia, GA; Gwen Jackson of Statesboro, GA; Stacy (Terrance) McGee of McDonough, GA; and Lakeidra (Alfred) Grant of Statesboro, GA; step-mother, Reba Smart of Philadelphia, PA; sisters, Eloise (Willie) Childers, Shirley Bell, And Barbara (Roy) Bradshaw all of Statesboro, GA and Mary Murray of Boston, MA; Emily (Kenneth) Taylor, Debra Smart and Aisha Abdul-Basit all of Philadelphia, PA and Dianne Smart of Savannah, GA brothers, Willie Murray, Jr., of Plainfield, New Jersey, Henry Murray of Sylvania, GA; Tommy Smart of Maryland and Michael (Caroline) Smart of New York; 11 grandchildren, two great children, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Due to the remolding and construction process at the Elm Street Church of God the funeral service for Mother Carrie Jackson will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the First Baptist Church 108 North Main Street Statesboro, Georgia, Dr. John Waters, pastor, the Elder Alexander Smith, Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in Bulloch Memorial Gardens. Mother Jackson will lie in state on the day of service from 10:00 am until the hour of service. There will be no viewing after the eulogy.
