Mother Linda Sparrow

Register, Georgia Mother Linda Lou Roberts Sparrow, age 82, entered rest, Saturday, February 17, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family under the care of Georgia Hospice Care. The Bulloch County native was the daughter of the late William Waymond and Julia Ann Porter Roberts. She received her formal public education in the public school system of Bulloch County and was a graduate of the William James High School class of 1961. Mother Sparrow was a dedicated member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church where she served faithfully with her late husband of fifty-three years, Deacon Henry Sparrow. A willing worker in many departments and auxiliaries; she was named the Church Mother and Church Clerk Emerita. She retired from the Bulloch County Board of Education where she was employed as a School Food Service Manager for over thirty-five years at Nevils Elementary School. She also dedicated her time and efforts by working with the Bryan County Summer Lunch Program for more than thirty years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Henry Sparrow, Jr. Mother Sparrow was a willing worker, a virtuous woman, a loving mother and wife, an institution builder, a maker of delicious food, a sister, and a friend. She was faithful, generous, and kind. She is survived by her two sons, Wayman (Shirley) Sparrow, Statesboro, Georgia; and William Sparrow, Sylvania, Georgia; and three daughters, Katrina Gail Hulbert, Statesboro, Georgia; Carlene Fields, Pembroke, Georgia; and Faye (Marvin) Mincer, Statesboro, Georgia; Hazel Stroman, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Betty Jones, Lake Butler, Florida; Mahaley Crawford, Statesboro, Georgia; Isaiah Roberts (Peggy), Pembroke, Georgia; James Elder Roberts (Betty), Groveland, Georgia; Remer Roberts (Susie) Nevils, Georgia; Anthony Roberts, Statesboro, Georgia; 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends. Family visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6-7 p.m. in the chapel of Hill's Mortuary, Inc. Mother Sparrow will lie in repose on the day of service, at the church from 10 am until the funeral hour. There will be no viewing after the eulogy. The funeral service for Mother Sparrow will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 185 South Popular Street, Pembroke, Georgia 31321, with the pastor, the Rev. Dr. Francys Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow in the Steven Grove Cemetery. The services may be viewed via-live stream at our Hill's Mortuary, Inc. Facebook page.
