Mr. John W. Bennett

Statesboro, Georgia Mr. John Wilford Bennett was born April 30, 1950, in Statesboro, Georgia, Bulloch County to the late Letha Mae Grant and Wilbert Bennett. John was the second oldest of ten children. He departed this life on Sunday, June 30, 2024. John was educated through the Bulloch County School system. As an adult, he later moved to New Jersey to pursue his dreams. John was affectionately known as “Brother” by his family and close friends. John was employed by Claxton Poultry Company for 16 years. He also worked for Wallace Wiggins, Jackson’s Construction, Dean Protective Services (New York), and Sears (New York). His work skills included masonry, roofing, tractor & trailer driver, and maintenance machinist. John was family oriented. He loved his family and participating in family events. He thought he was the grill master on an electric grill. He also thought he was an outstanding cook - Master Chef John. His nieces and nephews meant the world to him and made him happy and proud. You could always hear him bragging about them and their accomplishments. John was also a working man. Even when he didn’t feel the best, he pressed his way to work. He was an entrepreneur; he opened his very own car wash. John enjoyed fishing as well. He was known as a sharp dresser. Very debonair. His three most favorite things were his dog “Rose”, his Red Cadillac, and his family. One of his favorite places was sitting on his mother’s porch in Statesboro, Georgia. He loved his dog, Rose. Rose was his child. They talked and played daily. They also fussed daily, “Be quiet Rose”. He fed her pork skins and made sure she received her annual check-ups. Rose adored him as well. Several family members preceded him in death, his father and mother, Wilbert Bennett and Letha Mae Grant Rich, his brothers, Robin Rich, Leemore Rich, Theodore Rich, and Sylvester (Wilhelmina) Grant, one sister, Valerie Rich Dixon. John Wilford Bennett leaves to cherish precious memories his beloved family, two brothers, Dennis (Angel) Bennett of Statesboro, Georgia, Roy (Helen) Rich of Evans, Georgia; two sisters, Mary (Anthony) Bush of Augusta, Georgia, and Brenda (Alfred) Golden of Midway, Georgia, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Family visitation will be held on Sunday evening, July 14, 2024, from 4 P.M. to 6 P.m., in the chapel of Hill’s Mortuary, Inc. A graveside funeral service and burial will be held at 11 A.M., Monday, July 15, 2024, at the Harmony Baptist Missionary Church with the Rev. Maurice Hill, officiating. Final rites have been entrusted to Hill’s Mortuary, Inc.
