Mr. Charles Woodard

Alamo, GA The real measure of a Godly man is not his material worth but the lasting impact he has on the lives those around him. Charles Edward Woodard was such a man and there is no doubt that his servant heart is pleasing to God. Ask all who knew him, and they will say that his joys in life were fishing, family, lawn and gardening, the Atlanta Braves, Falcons and Hawks. Charles was born on December 30, 1949, in rural Wheeler County to that late Austin (Oak) Woodard and Doreatha Woodard. He moved to Atlanta in 1969 and served in the United States Navy from 1969-73. He married his first wife Sharon Gray in 1969 and of this union, his children Charles Bernard Woodard and Lakechia Woodard (McCoy) were born. In 1986, Charles met and married Patricia Ward…..and from that day forward they were affectionately known as “Charles & Pat.” This love affair ended with Charles’ death on January 19, 2022. Preceding him in death was his sister Thelma Woodard (Clark) and brothers Austin (A.W.) Woodard, and Aaron Woodard. In addition to his wife Pat, those left to mourn his passing include his son, Charles B. Woodard; daughter Lakechia McCoy (Phil); grandchildren, Ieshia Mobley, Ricci Mobley, D’Angelo Griffin, Marquis Griffin, Diamond Griffin, and Carmen Woodard; also mourning are, a brother, Willie Otis Woodard, brothers-in-law Elijah Clark; Edward Davis (Carolyn); Clifford Ward, Allen Ward (Josie) and Charles Ward (Cheryle), sisters-in-law, Alberta Woodard, Mary Ann Woodard, Debra Woodard, Sandra Bennett, Lynette Ward; Twela Ward; Linda Ward-Sabb; as well as his father and mother-in-law, Dunbar and Mary Ward; other relatives and friends.
